The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) at SGBIT was established in 2021, making it one of the most forward-looking departments at the institution. The programme is approved and recognized by UGC, AICTE, VTU and the Government of Karnataka.

Students are trained in scientific methodologies, processes, and techniques drawn from diverse domains — including Programming, Big Data, Distributed Computing, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, IoT, Cloud Computing, Robotics, and NLP. The curriculum offers a rich blend of theory and practice through modern programming tools and libraries, enabling innovative spirit and job-readiness.

The B.E. programme spans 8 semesters and equips students with the skills to manage the Big Data lifecycle, mine actionable insights, and build AI & Data Science solutions for the industry and society. Graduates are industry-ready professionals capable of working across IT, healthcare, finance, and smart-city domains.
