The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at SG Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi, offers a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) program in Computer Science and Engineering. Established with an initial intake of 60, the department expanded to 120 seats in 2020 and further to 180 from 2021–22, reflecting its consistent academic excellence and industry relevance. The department is recognized as a VTU Research Centre, enabling faculty and students to pursue advanced research in cutting-edge domains including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Computer Vision, Blockchain, and IoT. With a team of 32 highly qualified faculty members — including 8 Ph.D. holders — and 11 technical support staff, the department delivers outcome-based education aligned with VTU curriculum and AICTE norms. Students have secured placements in top-tier companies such as IBM, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Robert Bosch, MindTree, Capgemini, Cognizant, Oracle, and Amazon. The department maintains a state-of-the-art infrastructure with 9 specialized computer laboratories, a seminar hall, and dedicated faculty rooms.
