The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SGBIT, Belagavi, was established in 2008 with an initial intake of 60 students. Today, 120 students graduate every academic year, with over 820 alumni placed in core and IT companies across India and abroad.

The department holds a VTU Recognized Research Centre (since 2017) actively advancing research in VLSI design, embedded systems, IoT, wireless networks, and sensor technologies. Faculty members are encouraged to publish in reputed journals and organize conferences, seminars, and workshops.

With well-equipped laboratories covering more than 1000 sq.mt., the department offers hands-on exposure to digital electronics, signal processing, microcontrollers, communication systems, and VLSI. Students benefit from AICTE-funded FDPs, KSCST and VTU project grants, and a rigorous placement training programme commencing from the second year itself.

To be the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering striving hard to develop responsive teaching–learning methodology, research and employable skills in allied fields by empowering students to become globally competent and socially responsible citizens.

M1: Develop an active learning environment that ensures participation of students in both curricular as well as co-curricular activities. M2: Foster research, innovation and creativity amongst students. M3: Encourage development of entrepreneurial skills. M4: Inculcate team-spirit, leadership qualities, positive attitude and effective communication skills to cater to societal needs.
