The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) at SGBIT is a pioneering interdisciplinary programme that integrates the strengths of Computer Science Engineering and Business Systems. Developed in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) under the VTU framework, the programme prepares students for today's industry demands where technical acumen and business understanding go hand in hand.

The department began with an intake of 60 students and expanded to 120 students from 2023-24, reflecting strong industry and student demand. The curriculum is outcome-based and covers core computer science subjects alongside business analytics, ERP, supply chain, and organizational behaviour.

Faculty actively engage students through interdisciplinary activities, mini-projects, industry visits, hackathons, and NPTEL certifications. Students emerge as versatile professionals ready for careers in software development, business analysis, consulting, and entrepreneurship.
